From magical light trails and outdoor winter wonderlands to Santa’s grotto visits and dazzling ice-skating rinks, there’s something for all the family to enjoy this Christmas time. So, wrap up warm and head outdoors for some truly festive fun in the Malvern Hills this season…

The Lion, The Witch & The Malverns

Did you know that the Malverns inspired the opening description of Narnia in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe? C.S. Lewis was a regular at The Unicorn pub with good friends J.R.R. Tolkien and George Sayer, and one snowy evening was reported to have remarked upon how beautiful the Malvern gas lamps were and how this imagery would work well in a future book. And so, Narnia was born…

Fantastic Festive Events in and Around the Malverns

Head on over to the Three Counties Showground for some fabulous festive fun this December. With four festive experiences to choose from, you’re guaranteed a jolly good time! Skate on one of the region’s largest real ice rinks, before grabbing a bite to eat at the festive food quarter. Then, embark upon the sparkling new light trail as it meanders through the showground, with illuminations more impressive than ever before. Families can take a trip on the Arctic Express train to meet Santa, before riding on the giant Observation Wheel. The countdown to Christmas has truly begun!

Immerse yourself in a fairytale-like winter wonderland at the Webbs of Wychbold’s Enchanted Gardens. Travel through thousands of twinkling lights and lanterns to reach the snowy North Pole; home to the big man himself. You will see glittering glowing toad stalls, giant gingerbread houses and woodland cottages on your way to the North Pole; before stopping to meet Santa and his busy elves in their Christmas workshop. At the end of the evening, warm up and enjoy a tasty hot chocolate in the stunning tipi tents.

For a full festive day out, try Ralph Court Garden’s Christmas Winter Wonderland experience. Visit during the day and enjoy Christmas stories, singing reindeer, snow experiences, inflatables, carol singers and much more. Venture through the gardens to discover the magical Christmas Winter Wonderland – also open for evening visits on selected dates throughout December. Father Christmas is also set to make an appearance at Ralph Court Gardens, with special gifts from the North Pole for each child.
